Search engine optimisation

The search engines are the mighty monsters of the internet. It’s they who dictate how we promote ourselves because it’s they who deliver websites to the potential millions of clients around the world.

Every web page must be carefully optimised to produce it’s maximum potential placement. There are some fundamental do’s and dont’s when it comes to search engines.

Do:

  • write unique and descriptive content for every page on the website.
  • write unique and concise titles for every page on the website.
  • structure your content correctly with only the title and navigation above any content.
  • write grammatically correct copy.
  • validate your HTML code.
  • be verbose in your product or service descriptions.

Don’t:

  • place barriers in the way such as frames, Java or script.
  • keyword stuff at every opportunity.
  • put white text on white background as it’s an old trick.
  • create redirects or doorways that have no readable use.
  • write unreadable content for the sake of repeating keywords.
  • spend money on META tags as they don’t affect rank.

Search engine optimisation is often referred to as a dark art and the only sure way to know you can get results is to display results. Remember, you cannot hide on the internet.

How can TN38 Consulting help?

After years of highs and lows in terms of results in the search engines, we have established a set of ground rules that consistently work across all the major search engines such as MSN, Yahoo and Google.

We offer ethical, consistent and progressive search engine gains.

That’s as realistic as it get’s. If anyone is selling you a service with a guarantee then it’s not the truth because there are no guarantees. The search engines are too big and too powerful for anyone to guarantee results.

A lot of the success depends upon the competition for the target phrase too and will determine the overall likeliness of a Page 1 result. As always, there are other things you can do to get a jump start on the competition like piggy backing on other websites and directories to place your services where the traffic is. There are always gains to be made.
